Dear Followers: FWI is Splitting in Two! Pick your Poison

To all those who follow my blog and to all those who just happened to click on this one with the kind of curiosity you only find when you’ve already seen everything else on the internet…

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about Fencing With Ink over the last year, trying to find out how to make it better. One of the problems I’ve found is that the topics are so darn sporadic. I did that because this is a highly personal blog, so I write whatever the heck I feel like writing.

However, I’ve been challenged lately by God, others, and myself to get outside my own head and start writing things that are less personal and more for the benefit of others. Thus, I’ve decided to split FWI into two blogs. Since I have followers that read and comment on different things, I figure this would give my readers a chance to pick the ones they care more about and disregard the others.

BLOG NUMBER 1: Fencing With Ink

The first blog will be the same. The topics will mostly focus around arts and entertainment, hopefully gearing towards Christian art. This means movies, books, TV, music, comics, video games, dancing, paintings, poetry whatever. However, since it’s a personal blog, I’ll dip into the occasional random piece just for the heck of it. And I’d like to do everything with a touch of humor.

Here are a few of the new ideas I’d like to try:

  • Critiques of Christian arts like movies and books. I’ve dipped into this a bit, but I’d like to do more of it because Christian art is one of my passions, meaning I absolutely hate bad Christian art and want to see better stuff.
  • Good (Christian?) art showcases. This would highlight someone’s artistic endeavors. I have the question mark there because I would want to focus on Christian art, but I’m not sure I want to be exclusive here. Art is awesome. Christian art doesn’t have to be about Christianity, just work done by a Christian to showcase how Godly people can be and are supposed to be artistic.
  • What would you like to see?

In summary: FWI will feature topics about arts and entertainment, humor, and personal stuff with a Christian flavor, but Christianity itself is not the primary focus. If this sounds fun, continue following or go ahead and click that “Follow” button at the top.

Posts will come once a week on Tuesdays for the time being.

BLOG NUMBER 2: Steward and Servant

This blog launched TODAY with its first post over at This blog is entirely about Christian topics and more of messages and encouragements than entertainment. This is my attempt to get outside my own issues and focus on where Christians could do the most good in the world. Areas of need, spotlights on Christians being awesome, challenges, all that good stuff.

This is more “serious” blog, but then again, it’s me. I hate being too stuffy and I’m not a Bible scholar, so I want to keep things lighter and more accessible if possible. So, if you’re looking for a regular Christian read, Steward and Servant is the blog you should start following, not so much FWI.

Posts will come once a week on Saturdays for the time beign.

Pick Your Poison!

By splitting up the blogs, I want to see in which areas I am a better writer and where my audiences interests lay. Perhaps I’ll have more who are interested in the artistic side of things, perhaps more in Christian practices. perhaps both, perhaps neither. Either blog could crash and burn, but that’s okay. This is a learning experiment so that I become a better blogger and give you guys more quality content.

Thanks to everybody who’s followed Fencing With Ink for these past couple years. I can’t wait to have more fun with you on two different fronts. Enjoy!

  1. This is an awesome idea and I’ll continue to follow both but will probably focus more on “stewart and servant”. Thanks for doing this and I’m glad to see you challenged, focused and also obedient.

  2. I think it’s a good idea. I can see that there would be an interest in both. I think I’d like to follow the “steward and servant” blog. Thanks for giving us a choice!
